PADSTOW

No 6 restaurant

We started working with Paul Ainsworth before he reached the dizzy heights of appearing on the Great British Menu and gaining his Michelin star.

Upstairs in the restaurant, a private dining room provides a quieter, more intimate setting, away from the bustle below, but it was a plain and uninteresting room, lacking any decorative detail. We chose to add just one wall of bold black damask textured wallpaper, which immediately improved the proportions of the room visually. The rich design gives the feeling of entering somewhere rather special, enhancing the anticipation of the divine food to come, whilst the painted silk curtains are draped to frame the two windows which look out on the street scene below.
