Handmade curtains and blinds demand tracks, poles and hardware that work aesthetically to complement their style and design. But they also need to work on a practical level, especially in properties with spectacular views and large expanses of window, requiring long, continuous runs.
(The longest track we’ve fitted to date, without any joins, was 7.5m long or more than 24 feet. It carries a single curtain made up of 13 widths of fabric!) Tanya works particularly closely with www.silentgliss.co.uk and www.bradleycollection.com, who can supply one-off custom made fittings to cope with the most challenging situations.
By involving us early on in the building stage of a project, we can often pre-empt potential fitting difficulties, and where electrical tracks or blinds are needed, it is vital that we are consulted at the “first fix” stage. We are quite accustomed to donning hard hat and high vis jacket to visit muddy sites!
As projects near completion, we liaise closely with the building contractors to fit the hardware at the most appropriate time for them and us, but only once the builders have left site, do we hang the curtains and blinds themselves.
